Wegmans is planning to open a store in Lake Grove, NY, its first in the Long Island market. The 100,000 square foot supermarket will be located in the DSW Plaza near the Smith Haven Mall. A timeline for construction and opening has not been announced.
The company also announced plans to open new stores in Virginia and Delaware during the next two years, as well as a second location in Manhattan in 2023. The Manhattan store will be at the site of a former Kmart. And last month Wegmans announced plans for its first Connecticut store, a 95,000 square foot, two-level supermarket that will be located in Norwalk.
Currently Wegmans operates 106 locations in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts and North Carolina. Delaware and Connecticut will be the eighth and ninth states, respectively.
