Wegmans opens landmark stores in Brooklyn and Raleigh

Shortly after the opening of Wegmans’ 100th store, the company is celebrating the opening of store #101 today in Brooklyn. Located in the redeveloped Admirals Row site at the Navy Yard, the company’s first-ever New York City store is 74,000 square feet and features a second-floor mezzanine with nearly 100 seats for a cafe that serves food, wine, beer and spirits. Another New York metropolitan location – this one at 121,000 square feet – is expected to open next Spring in Harrison, NY.

Wegmans’ 100th store opened recently in Raleigh, NC. At 104,000 square feet, itĀ features The Burger Bar, a casual restaurant counter serving burgers, salads, sandwiches, soup, side dishes, and beer and wine by the glass. It is the retailer’s southernmost store in the chain. Wegmans said it plans to open five more stores in the Raleigh-Durham area, plus locations in Wake Forest, Cary and Chapel Hill.
