TargetExpress to open in Center City Philadelphia

Target announced last week that it plans to open a TargetExpress store next summer at 19th and Chestnut in Philadelphia, and according to reports, the company is already considering a second Center City location.

Earlier this year Target announced that it would open TargetExpress stores in urban areas, including San Francisco and Chicago.

The Philadelphia store is slated to be 21,000 square feet over two floors and will carry smaller items than typically found in full-size Target locations. The smaller items will allow carless customers to carry them and stash them in cramped apartments, according to a company spokesperson.

A decision has not been made yet as to whether there will be a pharmacy in the store. Earlier this week Target and CVS announced that the drugstore chain would acquire Target’s pharmacy and clinic businesses.
