Next Door, a sushi restaurant owned and operated by Wegmans, is scheduled to open in Manhattan adjacent to the supermarket’s Astor Place store on Wednesday, April 30. The restaurant will mark the company’s second location, the first of which is located in Rochester, NY, where Wegmans is based.
Grub Street reported that Next Door is a place for “drinking champagne and eating chu-toro tartare and other contemporary Japanese dishes,” and a Wegmans spokesperson confirmed that there is a sushi bar and robata grill.
In related news, Wegmans was named to the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For in 2025 list. It marks the 28th consecutive year that the grocer has appeared on the “Best” list. Wegmans came in sixth overall and ranked first out of all retailers.
