Walmart to take employee temperatures upon arrival for work

David Goodman | Apr 02, 2020 |

Walmart, which employs 1.4 million hourly workers, announced this week that it will begin taking the temperatures of associates as they report to work in stores, clubs and facilities. Any employee that has a temperature of 100 degrees or higher will be paid but asked to return home and to seek medical treatment, if necessary. The employee will need to be fever-free for three days before returning.

Walmart and Sam’s Club locations are in the process of sending thermometers to all locations. The company is also making masks and gloves available to employees (as supplies permit) who would like them.

It was recently announced by Walmart that associates with COVID-19 symptoms may stay home and that their jobs will be protected.
