Walmart opening larger Neighborhood Market stores

Walmart recently unveiled a bigger Neighborhood Market format and has committed to opening or converting more than 150 stores in the next five years. Two stores have already opened under the new initiative – a Florida Neighborhood Market expanded by about 17,000 square feet, and a 57,000 square foot new store was constructed in Atlanta.

“With the larger layout, we can offer a broader assortment across the entire store,” said Walmart Senior VP Kyle Kinnard on the company’s website. “Customers will see the biggest gains in our fresh departments. There will be more to choose from in bakery, produce, meat, and dairy. Plus, the expanded service deli will offer more hot case options.”

The larger footprint will also allow more space for pickup and delivery orders, wider aisles, a Mother’s Room for nursing moms, and a Health Services room in the pharmacy for private vaccinations and consultations.
