Sprouts Farmers Market, the natural and organic grocer that’s expanding in Greater Philadelphia as well as markets across the country, reported that its biggest growth has been in the 18- to 34-year old age group. According to Sprouts CEO Jack Sinclair, social media and support from celebrities has driven online impressions from “millions to billions.”
Customer-centric events have been very successful, as reported in a Supermarket News article written shortly after the grocer’s third quarter earnings call. Sprouts’ brand Discovery Days featured big displays and sampling stations, and back-to-school events focused on healthy snacks, lunch offerings, and prepared meals for busy evenings. In addition, SPROUTSCON, the company’s annual conference, attracted over 1,500 vendors.
Along with planned expansion, the grocer is testing a loyalty program in a couple test markets and says the results are exceeding expectations. More test markets are scheduled for next year.
Nine Sprouts Farmers Market stores opened in the third quarter of 2024 and 33 more are planned for the remainder of the year. Overall, 110 new sites have been approved and more than 70 executed leases are in the pipeline.
