ShopRite adding Instacart’s Caper Carts

David Goodman | Jun 28, 2024 |

Wakefern announced this week that Instacart’s Caper Carts will be added to four ShopRite stores in the Philadelphia area. Caper Carts allow shoppers to grab items and place them in their cart like normal, but the carts also recognize and weigh the items, and show how much has been spent on the shopping trip.

ShopRite launched the carts at its Hoboken, NJ store and has them in 11 stores overall. The new Philly-area stores are located in Morrell Plaza, at Bridge & Harbison, Brookhaven, and Drexel Hill.

Wakefern has nearly 50 members who independently own and operate 365 supermarkets under the ShopRite, The Fresh Grocer, Price Rite, Fairway Market, Gourmet Garage, and Dearborn Market banners in nine Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states.
