Last week the Philadelphia Planning Commission approved zoning changes to the area around 22nd Street and Pennsylvania Avenue that will allow Whole Foods to relocate their existing store to a three-acre site bounded by Spring Garden Street, Hamilton Street, 21st Street and Pennsylvania Ave.
A Best Western hotel currently sites on a portion of the new site.
Developer Neal Rodin’s plans call for a 55,000 SF Whole Foods with underground parking and 300-350 apartments above the store. The existing Whole Foods, which is a couple hundred yards from the proposed new site, is approximately 30,000 SF.
