ShopRite to close five stores in Albany, NY area

Wakefern announced that five ShopRite supermarkets will close this winter in the Albany, NY market and that as many as 500 workers will lose their jobs. The store closings are planned for Colonie, Slingerlands, Albany, North Greenbush, and Niskayuna. The closings are due to poor sales, according to a Wakefern spokesperson.

Online grocery sales fall 3% in September

McCaffrey's opens Gladwyne, PA store

McCaffrey’s, the regional grocery chain with locations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, opened its eight store last week in Gladwyne, PA at the site of a former Acme Supermarket. In addition to the usual grocery departments, McCaffrey’s first Main Line store will feature craft beers, wine, a gourmet sandwich station, and a coffee bar.
