The King of Prussia Mall, already one of the largest shopping malls in the United States (the largest, according to Wikipedia, which is always right), will soon get significantly bigger. Simon Property Group, the mall’s owner, announced earlier this week that they plan to unify the two main shopping venues – the 1,680,000 square foot Plaza and the 902,000 square foot Court – via a 140,000 square foot expansion that will include approximately 40 new retailers, several restaurants, an upscale dining pavilion and a customer lounge.
This expansion plan is in addition to the current redevelopment underway at the former Strawbridge’s building, which by this time next year will include ten new retailers in a two-story, 100,000 square foot space.
The King of Prussia Mall currently has seven department stores, more than 400 retailers and 40 restaurants.
