Giant to spend $114M on distribution center and PA store renovations

Giant announced that it plans to open a new distribution center in Philadelphia, remodel the St. David’s, PA store and open an Heirloom Market at Abbott’s Square in the Queen Village section of Philadelphia. In all, the company plans to spend about $114 million on new projects across the state over the next 18 months.

The center will be in a 124,000 square-foot leased building that Giant plans to renovate. In addition to serving as a distribution center, the Island Avenue facility will be used to grow its Giant Direct home delivery and in-store pick up business.

The St. David’s store, formerly a Genuardi’s supermarket, is one of 35 PA stores slated for renovation.
