Giant Supermarket proposed for Richboro Plaza in Bucks County

Giant Supermarket proposed for Richboro Plaza in Bucks County

David Goodman | Dec 23, 2020 |

Earlier this month the Northampton Township (Bucks County) Planning Commission recommended approval for plans to redevelop Richboro Plaza on 2nd Street Pike with a new, 50,340 square foot Giant supermarket.

Giant will be built on the site of the former Murray’s Richboro Market, which operated there from 1978 until 2018. Murray Battleman, who ran the store for many years, successfully fought to keep Giant from constructing a store nearby at Addisville Commons about a decade ago. A Wawa was built there instead.

The new plans include demolishing a portion of the center, and some existing stores will either close or relocate within the center or to other locations. In addition, access to the shopping center will be improved, decorative street lights and trees will be added, as well as a new sidewalk along 2nd Street Pike.
