Developers planning for North Philadelphia supermarket

Developers planning for North Philadelphia supermarket

David Goodman | Jul 03, 2015 |

According to a story posted on Philly.com in June, developers are making plans for apartments and a supermarket on the vacant land surrounded by Fairmount Ave., 13th Street and Ridge Avenue in North Philadelphia. Plans include the preservation of the Divine Lorraine Hotel, once a grand hotel but now a vacant, boarded up building.

RAL Companies of New York, led by Robert Levine, recently presented plans to the Philadelphia Planning Commission, and two City Council committees recently considered bills that would grant the project various exemptions related to loading and curb cuts.

Currently the plans call for about 480 apartments with 580 parking spots to be shared by residents and shoppers.

The developers told Philly.com they are talking with a number of potential supermarket tenants but declined to identify any of them.
