Aldi announced last week that it plans to open about 100 new stores this year and extend curbside pickup to 500 more stores. The discount grocer said the expansion will be “coast to coast” and focus on Arizona, California, Florida and the Northeast.

Aldi opened nearly 100 stores last year and now operates more than 2,000 stores in 37 states.

The company also announced that it broke ground on a new 564,000 square foot regional headquarters and distribution center in Loxley, AL – its sixth distribution center in the Southern U.S. – that will serve up to 100 stores in Alabama, Southern Georgia, Mississippi, the Florida Panhandle and Louisiana.

The 500 new curbside pickup sites will expand the service to more than 1,200 stores by the end of the year. The service is powered by Instacart.

Aldi expects to have 2,500 U.S. stores by the end of 2022.
