Aldi announced that it is rolling out Instacart Caper Carts across its stores in the U.S. The carts feature an interactive screen that tracks spending, provides access to coupons and deals through a loyalty program, and lets shoppers checkout from anywhere in the store.
The discount retailer is also rolling out several Instacart Connected Stores solutions, a suite of technologies designed to help grocers improve the customer experience. For instance, the In-Store Mode helps shoppers see what’s in stock, get details about items on their shopping list, sort items by aisle, and access in-store promotions through the Instacart app.
Carrot Tags, already launched in 100 Aldi stores in the Midwest, are electronic shelf tags with “pick-to-light” capabilities enabling Instacart shoppers to select an item on their phone and the corresponding shelf label with flash.
In addition, Pickup Fulfillment enables store associates to pick and pack items for curbside pickup customers via Instacart.
“With a large portion of customers preferring a blend of in-store and online experiences, Aldi is enabling the best of both worlds to its customers through our technologies,” said David McIntosh, Instacart’s VP and GM of connected stores.
Aldi operates more than 7,200 stores around the world, including about 2,200 in 38 U.S. states.
Instacart partners with more than 1,500 national, regional, and local retail banners to facilitate online shopping, delivery and pickup services from more than 85,000 stores across North America.
