Giant to close Heirloom Market in Center City Philly

David Goodman | Nov 11, 2024 |

Giant announced that it plans to close its Heirloom Market store in Center City Philadelphia, located inside the historic Strawbridge’s department store building. The 32,000 square foot store opened to much fanfare three years ago.

According to Giant Co. President John Ruane, “… this store has not performed to our expectations and when coupled with the challenges we and others have faced in the neighborhood, it no longer makes sense to continue operating at this location.”

Giant operates three other Heirloom Market stores in the city, plus a 65,000 square foot flagship location in the Riverwalk development. The company expects to open new Giant stores on South Broad Street and in a former Acme Supermarket in Andorra in the near future. Overall Giant currently operates 10 stores in the city of Philadelphia.
