Weis announced last week that it plans to purchase Sunnyway Foods supermarket, a two-store chain in Central Pennsylvania. Weis expects the deal to close before the end of the year.
Sunnyway President and CEO Dean Martin called the deal bittersweet, but added that he is “comfortable knowing that we leave our customers in the capable hands of Weis Markets.”
Weis has been in business for over 100 years and currently operates 196 stores in five states.
