According to published reports, ShopRite will not be coming to Atlantic City, NJ. After more than a year of talks with ShopRite Operator Village Super Market, the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) suspended negotiations. There had been little progress at the construction site since a groundbreaking ceremony in late 2021.
Mayor Marty Small, Sr. told the Press of Atlantic City that “We will continue to work diligently to bring a full-service supermarket to Atlantic City.”
In 2021, the CRDA approved spending $18.7 million on construction of the grocery store, which would then be leased to Village Super Market for $1 per year.
