BJ’s to open new, smaller format store

BJ’s Wholesale Club has unveiled a new, smaller-format store called BJ’s Market that’s about half the size of a normal club location. The 43,000 square foot store is scheduled to open later this week in Warwick, RI.

According to BJ’s, the new concept will offer fresh foods, produce, sundries and seasonal products, among others, and will serve as an innovation center for the company. Members will find the same pack sizes and pricing as in full-size BJ’s locations, as well as the same services, like curbside pickup, same-day delivery and Express Pay. Current BJ’s members will have full access to BJ’s Market.

BJ’s currently operates 227 clubs and 159 gas stations in 17 states. The company plans to open 11 new clubs in 2022.
