Weis Markets reported that it had record sales in fiscal 2021, surpassing its previous record set a year ago amid COVID-driven consumer demand.
Fiscal 2021 net sales totaled $4.22 billion, the highest in the company’s history, representing a 2.7% increase over the prior year. Furthermore, Chairman and CEO Jonathan Weis said 2021 fourth quarter results “significantly exceeded pre-pandemic levels and our original expectations.”
According to Weis, the record sales will help drive the company’s expansion and ongoing store and technology upgrades. During 2021, Weis earmarked more than $150 million toward the openings of four new and relocated stores and eight fuel centers, 13 store remodels, and over 1,000 store improvement projects.
Weis operates nearly 200 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, West Virginia and Virginia.
