Giant announced earlier this month that it plans to roll out the Flashfood app, which allows shoppers to purchase produce, meat, deli and bakery products nearing their “best before date” at significantly reduced prices, to all Giant and Martin’s stores following a successful pilot program. The rollout will begin in the Pennsylvania counties of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia.
To take advantage of the program, customers must download the free Flashfood app where they can browse deals on fresh food items. Purchases are made directly through the app and shoppers can pick up their orders inside the store on that same day.
“Food waste is a massive contributor to climate change and we’re eager to tackle this complex issue in partnership with The Giant Co., a clear leader in sustainability,” said Flashfood Founder & CEO Josh Domingues.
