Unless they follow the grocery industry, northern Montgomery County residents simply draw their own conclusions about the winners and losers in the supermarket industry. Until now, that is.
With the announcement that ShopRite is coming to Hatfield Pointe just days before Genuardi’s and Super Fresh are closing their doors at neighboring shopping centers, the message is clear. ShopRite believes in the Lansdale/Hatfield market, even though two giants in the industry (Safeway/Genuardi’s and A&P/Super Fresh) can’t make a go of it.
Sounds like an interesting business school case study in the making.
