Kosher supermarket opens in Northeast Philly

The first all kosher supermarket in the Philadelphia region opened last spring on Bustleton Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia. The 13,000 square foot store offers foods like meats, pizza, sushi, breads, candy and kugel, as well as household staples like laundry detergent and paper towels.

According to Lubicom Marketing Consulting, a New York firm that co-hosts a trade show called KosherFest, the kosher food industry in the U.S. increased by about 12 percent between 2014 and 2016.
In the last decade, about 65 independent kosher supermarkets have opened across the country.
