Grocery Outlet to offer same-day delivery via DoorDash

Grocery Outlet, the expanding food retailer with the value-priced model and treasure hunt shopping environment, announced a partnership with DoorDash to provide same-day delivery from nearly 400 stores in eight states. Participating stores are coupled with the DashPass membership program, which offers free delivery on orders of $35 or more.

To promote the new partnership, DoorDash and Grocery Outlet are offering DashPass members 30% off their Grocery Outlet order of $40 or more (up to a total value of $20) from August 18-24.

Grocery Outlet already works with Instacart and Uber Eats. Overall, the company has 425 stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Nevada.

According to Grocery Outlet, a typical shopper’s basket is priced 40% – 70% lower than conventional supermarkets. Stores are run by independent owner-operators from the communities they serve, allowing stores to cater to changing consumer preferences. The company procures surplus inventory and product overruns directly from thousands of suppliers, resulting in “treasure hunt” shopping.
