According to the Supermarket News, a source from the Greater Philadelphia area said California-based Safeway may be close to a deal to sell some Genuardi’s locations to Giant. The source told the Supermarket News reporter that Safeway officials were conducting inventory and equipment evaluation at some Genuardi’s stores this week.
Safeway and Ahold USA representatives declined to comment.
Last year Genuardi’s sold two locations in Bucks County to Giant.
