Bottom Dollar celebrates first birthday in Greater Philly

It was one year ago (October 8, 2010) that Food Lion opened its first area Bottom Dollar store in King of Prussia, PA. Since then, 21 more Bottom Dollar stores in the Greater Philadelphia market have opened. In that same time period, many companies, including Supervalu (Acme), Safeway (Genuardi’s) and A&P (Pathmark, Super Fresh) have closed several stores.

According to a Bottom Dollar press release, the company has created nearly 1,000 jobs in the Philadelphia area. It operates 50 stores from New Jersey to North Carolina, with almost half of them in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. More Bottom Dollar food stores are expected to open later this year.
