Wegmans announced yesterday that it plans to open a new store in Lancaster, PA in 2018. The 120,000 square foot store is slated to anchor The Crossings at Conestoga Creek, a proposed mixed-use development on Harrisburg Pike, just east of the Route 30 interchange in Manheim Township. High Real Estate Group is the developer.
Lancaster residents have been asking for a Wegmans for quite some time, according to a company official, as they have to travel 35 miles for the nearest store.
High Real Estate Group’s Steve Evans said his company first began talking with Wegmans in 2006, and since then has had 42 iterations of The Crossing’s site plan. The current plan calls for a pedestrian-friendly, open-air development in a Main Street setting.
